Douglass Duo Wins Entrepreneurship Contest

Piper Stocking and Jillian Downey of Frederick Douglass High School won the 2026 KACTE Entrepreneurship Event. The two students, who are members of their school’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), will share the $1,000 first prize. 

The 14th annual statewide contest, which is sponsored by the Kentucky Association for Career & Technical Education (KACTE), challenged students to develop an idea for an entrepreneurial business, create a promotional video, and submit a one-page executive summary of their business plan. The videos were designed to provide details to potential investors. 

Piper and Jillian’s business, called Mindwear, is a purpose-driven apparel brand dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and reducing stigma through fashion.
